GARY CARL

DEFENSIVE LINE COACH

with the glory since 2023

Gary Carl joins the KC Glory bringing a wide variety of football experience. He has coached at multiple levels of football over the last 21 years.

Coach Carl got his start at the young age of 19, coaching offensive and defensive line for Des Moines Roosevelt High School feeder program. After only a year, he was quickly promoted to Defensive Coordinator of the freshman team. In 2007, after graduating from college, he moved back to Kansas City to begin teaching and coaching for the Grandview C-4 School district. After an undefeated year coaching defense for Grandview Middle School, he became a Graduate Assistant at Avila University, coaching Defensive Line in the spring and Linebackers in the fall. He then went back to become the head coach of the Grandview Middle School football team for 2 seasons before taking over as Running Backs Coach/JV Head Coach at his alma mater, Grandview High School. He also spent a year at both KC Central (Interim DC), and Ruskin High School (JV Head Coach). It was at that point he decided to cross state lines again and head to Kansas. He spent the next 8 years at Shawnee Mission East High School in various roles on the football staff, with the last 5 being the Defensive Line coach, and the final 2 as Co-Defensive Coordinator. This past fall he made the move to Olathe East High School where he is currently coaching the defensive line and coordinating the JV Defense. He has been privileged to coach many players that have received post season honors, and some have gone on to play at the collegiate level including one player that has played professional football, in the NFL, USFL, and XFL.

Gary has been married to his wife Amy for 5 years, and they currently reside in Kansas City, Kansas. He has two daughters Sofia (17), and Lilli (14), who live with their mother in Raymore, Missouri. He is looking forward to his next adventure coaching the Glory defensive line.
